The assessment tools are essential for evaluating the sustainability of the logistics industry. As the Chairman of the EcoLogistics Community, Taoyuan City takes the lead in cooperating with ICLEI in developing the EcoLogistics Indicators, as a comprehensive self-assessment of the EcoLogistics for Taoyuan City.
The EcoLogistics Indicators for Taoyuan City are classified into 3 Categories: Environmental Sustainability, Social Equity, and Operational Efficiency, and include 34 quantitative or qualitative indicators for evaluating the status of the urban EcoLogistics.
The baseline for the assessment was set in 2019 which was one year before the setup of the EcoLogistics Project Office in Taoyuan. Assessment will continuously be carried out by the City, to track the progress of the sustainability of the City’s logistics.
Aiming at the self-assessment of local governments in Taoyuan, the Ecologistics indicators for ICLEI are transferred to those for Taoyuan city according to the data availability of the indicators under the structure of the EcoLogistics Indicators of ICLEI.
For example, among the 4 aspects of the Ecologistics indicators, there are fewer items for the economic sustainability, which are now scattered into the other 3 aspects. Therefore, Taoyuan City integrates the content of economic sustainability into the other aspects. After consolidation, they are divided into 3 aspects: environmental sustainability, social equity, and operational efficiency. Other items are reorganized according to data availability and index content, therefore 75 items in 4 aspects are updated to 34 items in 3 aspects.
